Copplestone Parish Council update
Hello from the Parish Council.
Since our last update in December, the Parish Council have been heavily involved with the planning application on the land East of Dulings Farm. It was good to see so many residents attend our meeting expressing their views on the application. The Chairman of the Parish Council spoke at the Committee meeting at MDDC where the application was being considered to object to the application. The application was not approved by MDDC. We also know that an appeal has been made by the applicant over the decision. A revised application has also been received. This will be discussed in March.
In January, the Parish Council also seeks a Precept payment from MDDC to run the council and provide the services
around the village we are obliged to undertake. Copplestone Parish Council felt that there was no current justification for increasing the precept and would keep the precept at £11,000. We are unsure of the exact increase by MDDC on the precept which will affect your council tax bill.
Cllr Penny has raised the idea of the Parish Council providing a War Memorial within the Village. Grants and assistance can be obtained from the Royal British Legion. It was thought that initially 5-6 names to be placed on the memorial.
The Parish council still has one vacancy. If you would like to volunteer, please make contact with us.
Meetings take place on the 1st Tuesday of the month in the Church Community Room at 7.30pm with a public session at the start of each meeting. To contact the Parish Council, please make initial enquiries via Christopher Voaden, the Clerk, phone 877807 or email firstname.lastname@example.org
